Best iRobot Vacuums

This entry-level iRobot is a great choice for those looking to save the price of a premium model. It has impressive navigation and obstacle-avoidance technology, and comes with apps and voice commands and scheduled cleaning.

Its vacuuming performance was top notch, picking up 55% of debris during our tests. The mopping also did a great job of eliminating dried milk staining.

1. Roomba S9+

After a month of testing robot vacuums, I'm convinced that the Roomba s9+ is the best choice for the majority of homes. Its unique shape allows it to get closer to corners and walls for cleaner floors and its powerful motor is more capable of cleaning kitty hair and litter than any other robot I've tested. The s9+ has advanced features, such as Dirt detection and the ability to choose which cleaning time to use the iRobot Home App.

iRobot developed vSLAM navigational software, which was initially created to assist mine detectors locate mines. It's a stunning achievement. It scans the room 25 times per second, and creates an accurate map of your room that helps Baby Rocky avoid getting snagged in the midst of a mess. It's also more effective at cleaning up pet and kitty hair than its closest rival, the slightly cheaper ONSON GOOVI robot F007.

2. Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+ is among the top robot vacuums that also has wet mopping capabilities. The j7+ utilizes advanced technology to eliminate obstacles and clean your floors without missing a spot. This new feature allows the robot to avoid obstacles such as pet poop or other objects that could cause it to break or become stuck. This is a significant improvement over previous models which could avoid obstacles only by luck or with the help of a user-programmed map.

If you send the J7+ on a mapping mission via the app you can program it to create its smart map of your home. Once it has created a map, the j7+ can remember and automatically navigate to that specific location when cleaning tasks come up. The j7+, when equipped with a mopping attachment, will automatically switch between sweeping and mops to ensure your floors are thoroughly cleaned. It has a powerful, 3-stage cleaning system, which includes a powerful vacuum, edge-sweeping brushes that can move around furniture, tight corners, and two multi-surface rubber brush heads that can be used on various kinds of floors. The j7+ is good at picking up pet hairs and other debris from low-pile and bare floors.

Although the j7+ is an excellent robot vacuum however, it's not as effective as our top choice Ecovacs' Deebot X1 Omni. The X1 is more reliable and has a longer battery life. It also has a higher charging speed and is compatible with an X1 base station that can automatically empty its own tank. It can also detect your schedule and organize autonomous cleaning sessions.

3. Roomba i3 EVO

The Roomba EVO is an excellent robot vacuum for floors that aren't clean. The BestReviews Testing Lab put it against the Shark AI Robot, and while both models have similar cleaning performance, we found that the i3 EVO was better equipped to handle carpeting with high and low piles. The i3 EVO also has a larger dirt compartment, meaning it does not require frequent emptying. It also comes with a Dual Virtual Barrier device that allows you to mark areas for the robot to clean, making it an ideal option for homes where pets reside.

The i3 EVO, as with other irobots, uses a smartmap to store the layout and divisions of your home. However it doesn't have cameras like the i8/i8+ and j7/j7+ and s9/s9+ do. Instead, the i3 EVO uses floor-tracking sensors to determine the area of rooms and how they're divided. The i3 EVO will display the smart map on the app once it's completed mapping. You can then alter the room labels and partitions if necessary.

powered by iRobot OS, the i3 EVO stays one step ahead of the daily messes. It learns your cleaning habits and offers suggestions, like scheduling cleaning times when you're away from home, or suggesting extra clean-ups during the peak of pollen or pet shed season. The i3 EVO is impressive at cleaning bare flooring, tackling smaller debris such as rice as well as bulkier materials such as cereal in one go.
