iRobot Roomba Combo Review

iRobot Roomba combo adapts to your habits of cleaning and suggests programs that work for you. Smart mapping, automatic schedules and Clean While I'm Away are some of the meticulously curated iRobot OS features.

The iRobot app lets you review images of objects that the Combo J7+ can capture to help you understand the areas it should stay clear of (lamp cords, for example). You can also modify your map by drawing specific areas that the robot must avoid.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mops in one pass, grabbing dirt from hard-to-reach places such as under the couch. It uses intelligent navigation to organize the cleaning in neat rows for wall-to-wall cleaning and to avoid falling down steps, while sensors assist navigate around furniture. Additionally, its Clean Base Auto-Fill Dock empties debris for up to 60 days and refills the liquid for an auto-cleaning that is more durable than the competitors. It's also compatible with a wider range of cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The roomba-based combination is a powerful mop, but it lacks the advanced features that make the Roomba J7+ an exceptional sweeper. It shifts from sweeping to mopping when it senses an area that is damp. A small robot arm lifts a little water tank/dustbin combo, and a new pad slides into the cleaner when you hit a button.

Its navigation was on par with the best iRobot robots that I've tested and it was able to make good progress even when the route wasn't entirely clear. It's not the best in avoiding obstacles, but it is quick to identify and avoid larger objects like toys and socks.

The app lets you alter your schedule, design an individual cleaning route and set up Keep Out Zones or Effortlessly Clean Your Space with iRobot Roomba 692 Zones to direct the robot where it is supposed to be. It also provides an overview of the tasks it has done and its health state. You can even pair it with your Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices to provide voice control. Intelligent platform from iRobot continuously updates Combo's software, adding new features and capabilities.

Mopping

The iRobot Roomba vacuums and mops according to your schedule. It will do this whenever you want it, whenever you like, without any manual intervention. To begin cleaning, just hit the button on your iRobot Home app or say "Hey Google,""Hey Alexa," or "Ok Google."

It uses Imprint Smart Mapping to learn your floorplan and allow you to direct it to clean the rooms you want, at any time you'd like. Furthermore, customizable Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones let you tell your robot exactly which areas to avoid or clean. iRobot OS automatically updates, to ensure that your robot is always up to date and ready to tackle any new challenge.

It also learns from previous cleaning efforts, prioritizing more dirty rooms and altering settings such as suction and scrubbing intensity. The Clean Base automatically empties the tank and refills it for 30 days of hands-free cleaning. It's compatible with numerous cleaning products.

Object Detection

iRobot robots can detect and avoid objects such as tables, couches, stairs, chairs and pet toys. They also avoid other household clutter. They also make use of sensors to recognize carpets and rugs. They then alter their cleaning settings according to that recognition, helping to prevent wet messes. They have an automatic dirt sensor that informs the robot when it is time to stop and resurface for additional cleaning.

Smart Mapping allows Roomba to map your home seven times more quickly, name rooms so that you can begin cleaning more quickly and also to customize Keep Out Zones and Cleaning Zones. The app or voice commands with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant let you direct your robot to specific rooms and areas.

Roomba can recognize and avoid more than 80 typical objects including power cords and backpacks. It also knows to stay clear of toilet bowls and litter boxes, as well as pets toys. The iRobot Combo J7+ can also identify and keep clear of solid pet waste using Precision Vision Navigation.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping to map and learn about your floor plan. It will then re-map it as necessary. You can map a room, and then set your cleaning preferences from the irobot vacuum cleaner and mop App. The Roomba will clean that area automatically in the future when it is assigned. Roomba also offers Dirt Detective, which automatically prioritizes your most dirty rooms for the most frequent vacuuming or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation lets it stay clear of objects like charging cables shoes, socks and cables. This is a fantastic feature that could save you some time when you're trying to get a particular job done.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by a high-performance lithium-ion battery that has ample capabilities for cleaning your home. The dust bin and water tank hold a total of 400 and 200 milliliters, respectively. The robot is equipped with a high-efficiency filter system to capture dirt particles and prevent them from resurfacing on your floors. It also supports iRobot's app and voice assistants, making it easy to control the robot using your smartphone or other devices.

The Combo J7+ can also take photos of objects to help avoid them during future cleaning trips. However, iRobot chose not to include automatic mop pad washing, which is something we've seen a lot of premium robotic cleaners include recently. This is a minor issue however it would be nice to have this feature available on the Combo J7+. Apart from that the Combo J7+ is simple to use and comes with an excellent warranty policy.
