Rerolling is a great option to upgrade items an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl will be decreased by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This effect is most evident on Diadems and Rings, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it using money or a food item which would allow them to change their builds without a lot of time and effort. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include a race change potion in the near future.

Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the number of levels to upgrade. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the maximum level of its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level, however. Generally speaking, the upgrade effect is increased by a factor of +3.

The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a unique or rare to an exceptional item will have a chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item upgrader kit type.
