Category a1 rules are for those who want to drive small motorcycles. These motorcycles have capacity of cylinders up to 35 kW. They cannot be directly derived from vehicles that have more than twice their power.

The open category drone operations can be subdivided into three categories: A1 to A3. You can fly drones using the class label C0 or egzamin a1 in the subcategory przepisy kategorii a1 (flying over people) up until January 2024.

A1

Category A1 is the first of three drone categories regulated by EASA. It is applicable to aircraft that are up to a maximum takeoff weight (MTOM), which is 25 kilograms. You can also fly drones with an maximum weight of 4kg in the A2 category, but they must be kept at a safe distance away from people during take-off and landing. The drones should be at least 30m horizontally away from people when they are in low-speed mode, or 5m when they are not in use. To fly in this category, you need to be able to pass the A2 Certificate of Competence exam (A2 CofC).

If you want to fly larger drones, then you'll need to apply for an operator's license for a specific category. A2 permits you to fly drones with transitional capabilities, which are not yet CE-marked, but they have been modified to lessen collision risks with people. These drones are only allowed to fly in A2 up until the year 2022's end. After that, they will need to comply with the A3 regulations.

The A1 and A2 categories are designed to aid you in becoming a safer and confident motorcyclist. A3

Due to the lack of certified drones in this category There are transitional arrangements that allow non-certified 'legacy drones to be operated in the categories A1 and A2 for two years following the new EU regulations are in the market. To operate a drone under this category, you must first take the online test for identification of flyers and then complete a theory test. A4

Drones bearing the C0 or C1 can fly within 50 metres of those who aren't involved in the incident. This is a very low-risk subcategory, but stringent precautions should be taken to avoid accidents. Drones that do not fall in either cena egzaminu a1 or A2 must have passed an additional test of knowledge in order to operate in this subcategory.
